The Costa Tropical was formerly known as Costa del Sol East. But its name was changed due to the tropical fruits grown there such as bananas, kiwis, sugar cane, mangos, custard apples, papayas and saffron grows wild. The Costa del Sol is to the west and Costa Almeria to the East. It’s located in the province of Granada. It is less than 80km in length. Its backs on to the Sierra Nevada Mountains, some of which drop into the sea. The ski resort is so close to the coast at 3000m above sea level, you can ski in morning and be on beach sunbathing in the afternoon. It has retained its Spanish roots and Tapas are given free with your drink in most of the local bars. The coast is made up of cliffs, coves, 26 broad beaches and friendly fishing villages.
It has a sub tropical microclimate due to it's location near North African Coast and the protection from the Sierra Nevada peaks, the highest on the Iberian Peninusla, which protect from the cold winds from the north. It enjoys 320 days of sun and average temperature of 20c. It has been given the healthiest climate in Europe and 2nd in the world by the World Health Organisation.
